Ben Ferencz
As the allied armies fought their way through Europe in 1945, Corporal Ben Ferencz would leap into his jeep and head off to the nearest village to hear reports of allied airmen being beaten to death by German locals. Ben was a war crimes investigator.
Day after day and week after week, Ben would come across some of the most horrific and soul-destroying evidence of genocide and crimes against humanity. And he vowed to do something about it.
Being a Nuremberg prosecutor wasn’t enough for Ben. Conducting the greatest murder trial in history wasn’t enough either. Ben would spend the rest of his life – nearly 80 years – campaigning and lobbying for a truly international answer to the horrors of war.
Tune in as Oswin and Carla are joined by the historian of our age Keith Lowe to uncover and understand Ben’s quest for world peace.
