Mocked as ‘the flying housewife’ and ‘the comely redhead’, in 1949 Richarda Morrow-Tait became the first woman to fly around the world.

And so Trapped History went along. It was a very special and emotional day, and we’ve re-edited and re-released our Season One episode on ‘Dikki’, adding in new interviews with family members and other women pilots who’ve been inspired by her example.

It is a powerful tale of physical and mental endurance and it’s told beautifully by Polly Vacher, another record-breaking aviator.

This month, to mark the 75th anniversary of her flight, a blue plaque was unveiled in her honour at Cambridge Airport, where her flight began.
